Greeks had a lot of armor, and the uniform was very proportionate. The helmets they wore were bronze with horse hair on top of it. The helmets were very important to them because they would protect their head, and keep it safe from arrows of spears flying towards them. The breastplates they wore were called cuirasses. Some of the cuirasses were made of leather, and others were made of bronze. The bronze ones were good to protect their chests, but the leather ones were better for flexibility, but still covered them enough. They also wore greaves; leg guards. The leg guards were made for protection, and they were made of bronze. The shields were very valuable, and were large enough to cover the whole body. Without a shield, the Greeks would have a higher risk of being killed, and they would be more exposed. Also, to represent the Greek military, they had decorations chosen by the hoplites on the shield. All in all, without uniform, there would be nothing to protect the Greeks from enemies, and they would have a tough time recognizing who was on their side, and who wasn’t.
To these three civilizations, uniform was very important, and useful. For the Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians, uniform and armor was good for protection and keeping them safe, but it is also good for showing other armies who they were. This relates to life today, because in our army the people will wear uniform to coordinate with everyone else in their army. Also, the uniform will help protect them, and they will be safe from bullets or other dangerous weapons. In conclusion, uniform is very special and important to Greece, Rome, and Egypt, and to us today.
Ancient Greek, Rome, and Egyptian armies had special uniforms, in some ways they were similar, but each had its own unique way of showing who they were. The Greeks had breast-plates, helmets, leg guards, and shields for protection. The Romans had helmets, leg guards, arm guards, and shields to protect them. The Egyptians wore a half-toga around their waist, but they did have a shield to cover their semi-nude bodies. Uniform was utterly important to the three ancient civilizations of Greece, Rome, and Egypt. It was important to Greece because they had a lot of uniform, so it was mainly used for protection. It was important for the Romans to have uniform so that everyone in their army would look the same, and still be protected. For the Egyptians, it was important to all look similar, but protection was not very big other than the shield they had. Uniform improved the way people looked at the three civilization's armies.
Uniform was also crucial to ancient Rome. They wore almost as much as the Greeks did. The helmet they wore was important to protect their heads, and represented their army that they were fighting for. They wore leg guards, to protect their legs, and they wore arm guards to protect their arms. They wore a belt to carry their weapons, and it would also hold their drum, if they were carrying one.Their shield was very heavy, and almost covered their whole body. It was very protecting., and it kept them safe, which is very important. The tunica they wore was to symbolize who they were. The tunica was much like a jacket. The two colors most commonly worn were red and off white, and made of wool. This would help them stand out so they would know who was from Rome. The uniform of ancient Rome helped them look alike and be greatly protected the whole time.
Egypt was a civilization whose army wore little. All they had was a toga around their waist, a helmet, and a shield. The shields they had were important when fighting against other civilizations because of the little amount of armor that they wore. The shield was a very good thing for them to have because it almost covered their whole body, and that kept them very safe. The helmet was very important to protect their heads since the shield would not fully cover it. The toga made it obvious that they were Egyptians because Rome or Greece didn’t wear togas. Everything they wore was different, but still helpful to Egypt.
Uniform was very different, and important to each civilization in many ways!
