Yeah, it kind of does.
Does it matter if you're lesbian, gay, or bisexual? yeah, a whole lot. As living organisms, our very existence is based upon sex. We are alive because of it, we live to have it, and we die when we can't. Humans have the largest sex organs of any primate. Only dolphins and humans mate 'for fun.', In addition, Homosexual relationships have been recorded in almost every mammal and at least 30% of reptile species. It does matter to me whether someone is straight or gay, and it should in general as it determines the likelyhood of a sexual outcome. Stereotypes have a distinct evolutionary function; If you like the Dixie Chicks, you may very well be homophobic. If you like ICP, you may very well be a douchebag. There are exceptions, but our ability to assume is what makes us human. In regard to gay-bashing, as terrible as it is, in the end it's just murder, something not only all of humanity but all of the animal kingdom is capable of. It's the part in every person that cheers when the sex maniacs die first in 80's Horror films. We want to preserve society; Homophobic people see homosexuals as a threat to their sexuality. Mary Shelley suggested that if our desires were confined to hunger, thirst, and want, we might nearly be free. To treat everyone equally is to miss the point of humanity. I probably wouldnt want the same christmas present as a Baptist Preacher, and don't expect you to treat me like one. Be opinionated. Gaurd your sexuality like a daimond in an alcove. Throw not your desires into the tertiary confines of 'It doesn't matter' because it does! Because it's YOU. Infer, don't assume. Because YOU do MATTER.
