Oxygen Atom
OXYGEN!
FACTS =]!
Oxygens name was created by Antoin Lavoirsier (believed oxygen was neccassary to form all acids) named after greek word: acid former
Oxygen has 8electrons and 6 valance electrons. Oxygen would be most likely to still electrons (reacts w/ group 2
9 unstable isotopes have been discovered. Naturally occuring oxygen is composed of three stable isotopes: O-16, O-17 and O-18. O-16 is the most abundant isotope. The known oxygen isotopes range in a mass number of 12-24.
Period #: 2 Group # : 16 Group Name: Chalcogen located next to Fluorine and Nitrogen Is a non-metal and is a gas
Boiling point: -182.95 degrees C. or -2971.31 degrees F. Melting point: -218.79 degrees C. or -361.82 degrees F. Density: 0.0001429 gc3
Discovered by: Joseph Priestly and Carl Wilhelm (individually) in 1774. Made by burning murcuric acid.
Common compounds: Carbon dioxide, H2O, oxygen difluoride OF2
By: Ayanna McMillan
Oxygn is a gas thats tasteless, odorles and colorless. the liquid and solid forms are pale blue. I t is the third most abundant element found in the sun and the earth. Plants and animals need oxygen for respiration. Hospitals always prescribe oxygen for patients. Around t2/3 of the human body and 9/10 of the mass of water is oxygen. Oxygen is every where. Without Oxygen everyone would most likely die because oxgen makes up the air.

Oxygen also helps make the colors of the Aurora in the north and south pole -Southern and Northern light
Uses: most important: BREATHING!!!! THought to be like fire air To help burn fire( some fire extinguishers work by making sure that oxygen molecules dont reach the fire.
