World war II
Adolf Hitler was a veteran of world war one. He joined the Nazi party in 1920 and became the leader in 1921. He gained support by promoting German Nationalism and became Chancellor of Germany in 1933. Germany invaded Poland in 1939 and he was the country's ruler from 1933 to 1945. Hitler and his wife both committed suicide shortly before the war ended.

In his 1939 speech Hitler said that he would rid europe of the Jewish race. Many innocent people were killed only because Hitler did not agree with there religion. Jewish people would be taken on trains packed like sardines to concentration camps where the strong men would have to work and all the rest would be gassed. In the 1920's while in prison Hitler wrote a book called "My Struggle", in which he had stated his views on the Jewish race.

War was a horrific experience which had an affect on every single person in one way or another. There were soldiers, soldiers familys, women and children all affected by the war. Most children in England were sent to stay in the countryside while women took over the mens job and the men fought in the war. There was less food to eat. People were evacuated from cities, wartime was not a happy time.

What was World war II?
World War Two was a war in which the whole world participated. The war began in Europe in 1939 with the invasion of Poland and went on until 1945. Many people were affected during the war, children were sent to the countryside and men were made to fight as soldiers. Over seventy million people were killed and a majority of them were civillians.
