Life Before Presidency: Jimmy was born in 1924 and 18 years later attended the Georga Institute of Technology, for a year, then admitted to Annapolis. Just prior to his last year there he met Rosalynn Smith and proposed, she denied him the first time, but the next year he proposed again and she accepted. In 1955 he ran for office for the Sumter County Board of Education, then for a seat on the Georgia State Senate in 1962. In the early 70's, Carter became Georgia's Governor.

Life After Presidency: After being President, Carter worked and created many charitable organizations. He also served as a freelance ambassador for many international missions. Also during his post-presidency he has written many books.
