The national animal of Pakistan is Markhor and the national bird is Chukar. The different variety of landscapes in Pakistan allow wild animals to have habitats and reproduce.. The forest range from alpine and subalpine trees such as: spruce, pine, and deodar cedar in the northern mountains. Many trees are found in mountains such as the mulberry-type Shisham in the Sulaiman range in the south. The western hills have trees such as: juniper and tamarisk as well as coarse grasses and scrub plants. On the southern coast Mangrooves are grown and on the wetlands along the southern coast.
The northern and western highlands of Pakistan contain the tall Karakoram and Pamir mountain ranges, which include some of the world's highest peaks: K2 at 8,611 m and Nanga Parbat at 8,126 m. The Baluchistan Plateau is in the west, and the Thar, Punjab and Sind deserts, lie in the east. Pakistan has four seasons: a cool, dry winter from December untill February; a hot, dry spring from March untill May; the summer rainy season, or southwest monsoon period, from June untill September; and the monsoon season of October and November. Rainfall can occur in humid seasons like the monsoon season.
Pakistan covers 340,403 square miles about the same siza as France and the United Kingdom combined. It's eastern regions are located on the Indian tectonic plate and the western and northern regions on the Iranian plateau and Eurasian landplate
