Born September 18, 1733
Went to school in Chester, Pennsylvania then Philidelphia Academy
Delegate of Delaware
became vice president of Delaware
AFTER CONSTITUTION: When Delaware president was captured, Read became president. He had to resign due to poor health in 1779.
George Read was a federalist.
Died September 21, 1798
Had 4 sons and a daughter with the widowed sister of George Ross, Gertrude Ross Till
July 2, 1776-voted against independance
presided over the Delaware constitutional convention. Chaired in the drafting committee and became speaker of Legislative council
