Student Authors

As a former language arts teacher, I want my media center program to foster literacy and encourage students to think of themselves as writers. To that end, I announced the school's first writing competition in October, and our first volume of student work was published on October 31. Read at Your Own Risk contains ten spooky or suspenseful stories written by student authors and one story from a mystery writer - a faculty member writing under a pseudonym. I plan on making this a regular occurrence, and expect many more entries for the next collection of stories, which must all share a common setting. Students have until November 20 to submit their story set during winter or in a cold climate.
