Origins – In 1971 a group of activists joined together to sail to Vancouver, Canada. Their mission was to find the Underground Nuclear facility in Alaska. They did this because in Amchitka, Alaska was home to many endangered species and the nuclear facility harmed their habitat. These activists (who are also the founders of Green Peace) were intercepted by the coast guard, but became an interest topic. They were able to speak out and stop the nuclear testing, and Amchitka became a bird Sanctuary. Purpose- Green Peace’s purpose is to preserve the environment. They watch the environmental destruction of our planet and protest through peaceful, “non-violent” protest. Members/ Target Audience – Members consist of anyone who wants to take a stand and protect our world’s environment. The target audience is the public. Being able to show the public what is happening to our environment can raise awareness. It can then motivate people to want to stop by joining Green Peace and helping our environment. Lobbying Agenda- To show others the environment needs help through, advertising, debating, and peaceful protesting.
