Morrie Shwartz was a man who had experienced a hard life. When he was a young boy he had to lie to his own brother by saying that his stepmother was his birth mother. Morrie's father wanted Morrie's younger brother to believe that their stepmother was there birth mother because his brother was too young to know the difference. Morrie saved the telegram of his mother's death for the rest of his life. Years later his younger brother had caught polio and survived but then llost the battle to cancer. In August of 1994 Morrie was diagnosed with ALS. ALS is a terminal disease but Morrie was preparing himself as all his perspectives on life changed for the better.
