1814 - entered father's school as a teacher; 1817 - parted ways with Salieri 1823 - wrote his first song cycle, Die Schone Mullerin
Father taught violin owned his own school
October 1808 - became pupil at Stadtkonvikt throught a choir scholarship There he was introduced by works by Mozart. Was occasionally permitted to lead the orchestra. Antonio Salieri noticed talent and trained him in musical composition and music theory. Wrote an abundance of chamber music during this time. 1813 - left Stadtikonvikt
1872 - memorial established to him in Vienna's Stadtpark 1888 - Schubert's and Beethoven's graves were relocated to Zentralfriedhof, next to Johann Strauss II and Johannes Brahms
