What made Mary Hays so famous? Mary Hays is so famous becuase of her big accomplishment in the Battle of Monmouth. She was acting as a regular molly pitcher, but then her husband became wounded. When he was wounded, Mary stepped up and tooks his place in battle. She is now known as Molly Pitcher.
