He asks where I am headed I just smile and shake my head Freedom is my destination, my lord I know not where that lies He takes my hand and says ”come with me, And I’ll show you where it lies”
People dressed in fancy costumes and masks Move swiftly down the road Giggling and gossiping Their echoes bouncing off the walls With a sudden sureness, my mind is made I reach into the corner and pull out a rope As I throw it over the edge The ladies shriek in shock As I step onto the barrier
I make my way to the balcony Curtains billowing in the crisp night air Caress my arms, sending shivers down my spine I step out into the moonlight Looking down below me I see little boats, tied to tiny trees Swaying in the water
These barren walls are staring down at me Stark white and unflawed Only the light through the window filters in And I hear whispers on the breeze Crickets chirp and little green frogs sing
A man looks up at me, his dashing grey eyes meeting mine Turning my back to him I begin to make my way down Moments before my feet touch the ground I feel warm hands around my waist I turn and see the same man, smiling so sweetly A brilliant burning blush crosses my cheeks And I murmur thanks

Hypnotized I leave my bed Bare feet softly hitting the hardwood floor Gently padding to the dresser I light a candle and hold it close Wax dripping down, to pool in the bottom of the holder
