Be the change that you want to see in the World.
Many people today become very passionate in certain fields and causes and dedicate their lives to this cause. I believe they're the best examples of this quote. As they go out and try to help their cause or support it in some way. I think that while some people could use this phrase like the actvists, many could not. I think its hard to set an example for people and think of themselves as leaders. I don't think some people care that others may see them as someone to follow and Gandhi was a courageous man in being able to lead such a vastly populated nation like India.
Gandhi believed that peaceful, non-violent rebellion was the way to win independence in India and he never did anything to cntradict that. He fasted when people broke out in riots and people got hurt, not only to make penance for the sin but because he wanted those people to STOP. He acted the way he wanted the world to be and guided everyone the best way he could.
I think that this quote means your actions should reflect your opinions. and outlooks. If you think the world should act a certain way then you should be the first person to show people exactly how to act. (i.e-activists :D) I think this is intresting because so many people say things about how the world should be but I have yet to show people a representation of it. You should be the first person to start the world in the direction you think it should head in
