College is overwhelming, but you aren't the only one! Look around, the 20 other students in this class are just a scared as you are.
Go with your gut! Chances are you are doing the right thing. Stick to what you believe & your dreams will come to you.
Don't know what you major is? Join the club! You aren't the only one. Plus, you'll meet people who think they have everything figured out and then they take Chemistry. Everything gets thrown up in the air at that point.Take classes that interest you. It'll help you figure out what you want to do with your life. The point of college is to make you think so take a controversial class or two. [This class is a terrific start.]
You might feel overwhelmed when a teacher keeps picking on you. But it's a good thing. I promise! Because when you screw up & no one is getting on your case anymore, it means they gave up.
Be open-minded! Your friends, classmates, & teachers each have their own beliefs & opinions. I guarantee that you will have discussions on politics, religions, & many other controversial topics in society. You'll probably learn something new! You have to be willing to listen to them if you want them to listen to you. It's a two way street.
You won't always get what you want, but experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted.
Don't stress it! Relax. Take it easy. You will get a lot of work, not a lot of sleep, &, if you're lucky, two meals a day. But it will all be worthwhile. You are going to learn a lot, both inside & outside of the classroom. Welcome to college. It's going to be the best four years of your life.
Take advantage of the opportunities you are given because you might not get that chance again. You don't have to worry about anyone else, but yourself. Have fun! Go crazy (but not too crazy). College is the time of your life :]
At first, you may feel like you don't fit in & that's okay. But I can promise you that you will find people who have the same interests as you. You just have to find them. Go join some clubs! The Activities Fair is a GREAT way to get involved & make some new friends.
If someone gives you advice, take it!
Don't go home EVERY weekend. You are going to miss A LOT of memories over those weekends. Plus, how could you make friends if you are never around?
Say, "Hi", to EVERYONE at Orientation. Who knows, they could become your new best friends! Also, go to the numerous activities on campus, like the 80's Dance!|V
