Mixture - A substance made by mixing other substances together. Examples : Oil, Ocean Water, and Soil.
Solute - The minor component in a solution, dissolved in the solvent. Examples : Salt, Sugar.
Mixtures, Solution, and Colloids .
Homogeneous - Consisting of parts all of the same kind creating a consistent mixture. Examples : Air, Wine, Milk.
Heterogeneous - one of two or more substances that are not mixed evenly Examples : Sand In Water. Smoke Chicken Soup.
Solution - A combination of two or more substances to form a homogeneous mixture. Examples : Carbon dioxide in water (carbonated water) Dissolving table salt in water.
Colloid - a type of heterogeneous mixture. A colloid consists of two separate phases: a dispersed phase and a continuous phase. Examples : Whipped cream. Smoke, air particulates.
Solvent - The liquid in which a solute is dissolved to form a solution. Examples : Ethanol, Acetone, Water.
