Have you ever found yourself asking the question “How did I get here?” Sometimes we get a little side tracked in life. It usually does not happen over night, but gradually. This happens when our internal compass is not pointing to the “True North.” A compass tells us where we currently are and how to get where we need to be. If the North on our compass is not pointing to “True North”, we might find our selves in delusion and or lost. I asked the Lord what our “True North” is in life. He gave me this scripture: 2 Corinthians 3:11 “But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.” True North is simple devotion to Jesus, the devotion of getting to know Jesus experientially and supernaturally. Anything else will lead us astray as the verse says, even if they are “good” things. What is the “craftiness” that 2 Corinth. 3:11 says we need to be on guard for in our life? Busyness. Busyness can be a huge enemy to our relationship with the Lord. Busyness has the appearance of fruitfulness but many times there is a lot of running around with little to show for it. We can not be deceived. True fruit that remains comes from intimacy with the Lord. So how do we set our hearts to “True North?” We have to let Jesus back in. Revelation 3:20 says: “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.” Jesus is talking to believers. Why is Jesus outside of our hearts knocking? Something took His rightful place. How do we practically open the door of our hearts and let Him in? Revelation 2:4-5 “Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first.” Do the things you did at first. What did you do when you first fell in love with Jesus? Do those things again and make them first. Be vigilant at protecting the time you do those things. Busyness gradually creeps in and takes over our free time. That is how the enemy does things. He knows if we are not rooted in real experiential relationship with Jesus, we are little threat to his kingdom. The encouraging thing is that Jesus doesn’t wait for us to act. He takes the initiative. He comes knocking. He desires that intimate relationship more than we can imagine. He wants to be our True North. So let’s let the King of Glory back in to take the rightful throne of our hearts.
