He strains to hear his thoughts Over countless words and dreams The ever-mystifying world Hears not his shaky screams The path that he is seeking Is hard to tell apart He gropes along in dim lamplight Does not quite trust his heart
Is this the path he wants, Or just some person's lawn? With nothing but the feel of earth No map to lead him on He squints to see the light Through the damp and opaque mist
It dances, taunts and beckons now And he cannot resist For everyone around Seems to know the path by heart He feels as though he slept right
through The most important part While innocently lost In the sea of his daydreams He missed the way to find himself All he can do is scream
So can you guide him now? Point out which way is west? He promises to listen well And scream his very best.
