Edmund Fanning One of Governor Tyrons close friends, he was a Native of Long Island. Also Fanning was also a a Yale graduate and a representitive of all that the westerner's detested. Unfortunately he was very cocky and wore clothes to make him look better than the colonists in his area that were poor. This angered the colonists and once he started to collect taxes, that was the last straw. He was charged with extortion in the conflict of 1768.

After the death of Gov. Dobbs, William Tryon took over the gov. spot in the colony. In 1768 the regualtors felt that he had failed them because he upheld the decision of convicting Edmund Fanning.

This man spoke for colonist's freedom and was one of the few who came up with the motto, "No taxation without representation." He was also part of the committies of correspondence which was a group of committies that came up with ways to challenge british laws. Sam Adams was also the leader of the Patriots, colonial liberty supporters, which circualted letters describing what we know as the Boston Massacre.
Thomas Jefferson The Decleration of Independence was a document that gave America it's Independence on the date of July 4th, 1776. Thomas Jefferson was asked to make this document and sign it as one of the leading draftsman.. He did so and the colonists were freed from Great Britian's control.
