The Black Death
The Black Death had begun spreading due to the Tatar army which was attacking the walled city of Kaffa. When the Tatars are stuck with the plague, they launched one of the bodies into the city to kill off the soldiers. Surely, the army dies and soon the plague is spread into Europe which nearly annihilated the European population.
The Black Death was a very brutal disease, killing an estimated amount of 75 to 200 million people. There were three different variations of the plague: the bubonic plague, the pneumonic plague, and the septicemic plague. The Bubonic plague was the most common forms of the plague. The most common symptom included the appearance of swollen lymph nodes in the groin, armpit, and neck area. Pneumonic plague was airborne that attacked the lungs before the rest of the body. The septicemic plague was a type of blood poisoning with a mortality rate close to 100 percent.
This disease caused 75 to 200 million deaths, making this the world’s deadliest pandemic. There are many other consequences due to this deadly disease. It nearly eliminated 45 to 50 percent of Europe’s population in a 4 year timeframe. After the pandemic ended, people did not know the cause of this disease and blamed Jewish people, attacking their communities and burning them alive through 1351.
The Black Death gets it name either from the way the suffer's skin would blacken or because it was dreadful and sad.
