GUIDING PRINCIPLES 1. Create a landscape that is as self-sustaining as possible while still fulfilling the required functions. 2. Create a landscape where each component compliments the others to function as an ecosystem. 3. Provide ample educational opportunities both for Olds College students and the public. 4. Demonstrate that beauty and functionality can coexist in a landscape.
ALBERTA'S ECOSYSTEMS Featuring areas with plant material representative of boreal, mountain, and grassland ecosystems.
Visitors will be able to identify these themes and the specific plant material using a garden-tour pamphlet that outlines the significance of each region the location within the botanic garden.
ECOREVELATION Combining the best of human engineering and plants' natural filtration in a constructed wetland. RESEARCH & EDUCATION Identification, conservation, evaluation, and bioclimate models.
