COURSE DESCRIPTION Side by Side 4 Fall Semester 2010-2011 TEXTBOOK and SUPPLIES: Side by Side Book 4 & Side by Side 4 Activity Workbook by Molinsky & Bliss. You should have a three-ringed binder with pockets, three-hole loose-leaf paper, headset with microphone, a flash drive, a highlighter, pens/pencils and erasers. CLASS DAYS, TIMES, and CLASSROOMS: Monday – Thursday 11:00 AM – 11:55 AM MTTh A203 and W A202A Banking Day is Thursday, October 28th. COURSE DESCRIPTION: Side by Side 4 is designed to give the student speaking and listening, as well as reading and writing practice utilizing advanced grammatical structures. Prerequisites: Successful completion of ESL 771 or consent of instructor. ATTENDANCE & PUNCTUALITY: You should be in class on time every day. If you must be absent, call the English Language Workshop (571-4503) or my office (571-4558) and explain why you must be absent. We have a waiting list of students who want ESL classes here at MATC, so we will drop any student who is absent for two consecutive weeks without an approved excuse. Attendance will be taken at the beginning of each class period. If you are late, it is your responsibility to sign in. GRADES AND EXPECTATIONS: Students are graded on a pass/fail basis. To pass, you must participate in class daily and complete your homework. Your grades will be accessible to you on Blackboard. You are expected to be in class every day with a pencil or pen, your class notebook with paper, all handouts, a formatted computer disk, and your completed homework. ADA STATEMENT: If you have a disability that impacts your classroom performance and wish to request an accommodation, contact the Center for Special Needs at (414) 297-6838. They may require documentation regarding your disability to enable them to comply with your request. Admission of a disability is voluntary and will be handled in a confidential manner.
