The mass murders began in 1941 and ended around 1945.
The Nazi Gov't never mentioned the camps, even amongst themselves, the never reffered to the camps as "death" camps. One German official actually went missing after slipping the word "gas chamber" into a memo to his commander.
•11 million people died. •6 million of these were Jewish (close to two thirds of Europe's Jewish population). •Up to 250,000 were Roma/Sinti (Gypsies). •1.5 million were children.
