History - The first version was presented by Dmitri Ivancritch Mendeleef -Was released in 1864. - Over 700 versions were proposed before the one we now know.

The Periodic Table
Groups >Alkali metals- the metals in the first column of the table. They are soft shiny metals. >Alkaline Earth Metals- the metals in the second column of ht eperiodic table. Very similar to alkali metals. >Halogens- found in group VIIA. (Fluoride, chlorine, bromine, and iodine.). >Noble Gases- also called the rare gas elements. They all occur in nature as gases. Make up the group VIIIA which is the last column in the periodic table. They have a full outer leven with 8 valence electrons, so undergo chemical reactions because they do not accept and electons. >Transition Metals- the metals located between columns IIA and IIIA in the table. They also have valence electrons in two shells instead of one.
