DMZ
In this scene from Die Another Day James Bond uses hovercrafts to chase down North Korean soldiers across the DMZ, across a minefield. Hovercraft would be the only vehicle to be able to cross the minefield safely
Korean soldiers on both sides of the DMZ still patrol the border. Pictured below are two groups of South Korean soldiers on patrol.
The Korean Demilitarized Zone is a strip of land running across the Korean Peninsula that serves as a buffer zone between North and South Korea. The DMZ cuts the Korean Peninsula roughly in half, crossing the 38th parallel on an angle, with the west end of the DMZ lying south of the parallel and the east end lying north of it. It's 155 miles long and approximately 2.5 miles wide. It is the most heavily armed border in the world.
The Military Demarcation Line, sometimes referred to as the Armistice Line, is the border between North Korea and South Korea. It is not a physical line, like a cement wall or wire entanglement. The Military Demarcation Line is made of departed notice pads which are set up approximately 2 km apart each other in the DMZ.
