erosion prevention [coasts]
SEA WALL. stops the sea reaching the land. however it is unsightly
GROYNES stops saind moving because of longshore drift.
ROCK ARMOUR soaks up eneegy of waves , so less erosion,
WAVE BREAK waves break away from shore so less energy reaches the beach.
DO NOTHING let nature take its course.
BEACH REPLENISHMENT build up beach by adding more sand / shingle.
Fetch - the length of water the wind blows over. Factors effecting size of wave : *Fetch *Amount of time the wind blows *strength of wind Tides - the result of the rise and fall in sea level *changes in tide are caused by the gravitational pull from the moon and the sun. HIGH TIDE IS ABOUT EVERY 12- .5 HOURS
swash- rushes up the sand when a wave breaks backwash - runs down the sand after a wave breaks.
