Cactus
Cactus is a member of the family Cactaceae, which is native to the americas. They are part of the plant order Caryophyllayes.
Cactus are adapted to extremly arid and hot enviroments. In order to survive they have to save alot of water from they few times it rains. This is how the leaves became the spines for which cacti are known.
Cacti come in many different shapes, the tallest recorded being 19.2 meters , and the smallest being only 1 cm in diameter at maturity. Most cacti bloom at night.
A cactus can live from 25- 300 years
Cactus grow in hot, dry places. The places where they are most commen are Mexico and the United States. Sometimes, They grow in rows or patterns.
Cacti grow in rocky, sandy soil. They have very long roots that drink up the rain water. All cacti make flowers.
