GREECE AND ROME
HOW GREECE FALLS TO ROME Philip of Macedon came to power and built the first regular paid army in Macedonis history . He organized his kingdom and started taking over parts of Greece that Athens claimed as colonies . He that began unifying Greek ciyt-states under his rule. The Greeks were divided , half on Philips side agreeing with his and calling his a savior and the other half opposed him. Demosthenes , one of Athems great orators or speakers was against this ruler and tried to get Athens on his side. He spoke with harsh works concerning Philip in hopes that Greece would stand up and defend thier land. Yet through all his speaches his failed to inite Greece against him. Philip stormed south with his army conquoring Greek cities one at a time. When Athens finally decided to fight against Philips army it was too late. After his great defeat at Chaeronea he became the master of Greece. The Greeks were now united but not free. Philip was assassinated in 336 b.c. and did not get to invade Persia as he planned.
HOW ROME IMPLODES The Roman Empire broke up in the 400's A.D. and Marcus Arelius one of Romes last good emperors picked his succesor in 180 A.D. and he picked his spoiled and weak son Commodus and his reign ended the great period of the empire. After 13 short years of being ruler his empire declined and Commodus was assasinated. Three different people fought for the place of the late ruler of Rome and a man from an African province named Septimius Severus won and used his power to strengthen military dictatorship. His dynasty lated from 193 to 235 A.D. and it collapsed in a military mutiny. During the 200's A.D. many civil wars broke out. There were 20 emperors in the period from 235 to 284 A.D. and all but one died violently. Every frontier of the Roman empire was invaded by barbarian tribes.
THE DARK AND MIDDLE AGES Many illness and fights broke out during the Dark and Middle Ages. Greece and Rome did not set good examples when it came to uniting thier people with a good ruler. Many people died due to diseases and not alot of new technology and medicines were being developed because people were not wroking together instead they put all their energy into hating one another. If Greece and Rome would have united and had good rulers then , other people down the road would be secure in a well organized system. During the Dark and Middle ages the people decided mot to spend time doing math and creating medicine because they thought that it was the reason Greece and Rone fell apart. They were a lazy group of people and they did not prosper or grow in any way. Even though they used Greece and Rome as examples of what not to do they still did not turn out well.
