In Drita, My homegirl, two girls find each other when they need each other most. Drita, a new girl to PS 18 of Brooklyn school, who comes from the far Kosava, quickly learns that things are different in the U.S. Maxie, a young girl who has lost her mom and is getting in more and more trouble everyday, finds truth in Drita. At first Maxi is sceptic of Drita, but soon finds out more and more about Drita's country and soon takes very much interest in it. As Drita's mom gets sick, Maxi and her grandma are right there to help. Two girls from completely opposite backgrounds and cultures find out that they have more in common than they could have ever imagined. Together, these girls conquer more than just their class project, they seem to make sense in such a carzy world. In this book you will find to not always go by what you just see. And that friendships can be made when you least expect them.
