The Upper Classes +The Senatorial Class- Families whose men were members of the Senate or had ancestors who were members of the Senate. +The Equestrian Class- Familie whose men owned property that was worth a minimum of 400,000 sesterces.

Roman Class System
Military- At that time the Roman Legion was the main military system of the world. The infantry was heavily armored, diciplined, well trained, and fought in close rankd. The Roman Legion was one of the furst full time, paid professional armies. Economy- Slave and agrarian based. Mainly concerned with feeding the citizens and legionaries who lived in the Mediterranean region. Didn't include much of an industrial production, but more trade and agriculture. Instead of paying taxes, farmers could give their extra crops to the government. Society- Divided into classes.

The Lower Classes +The Commons- All other Roman Citizens. Usually wore togas and had the legal right to marry other Roman citizens and whose children were also Roman citizens. +The Latins- Peope who lived in certain parts of the Roman Empire and were not considered full Roman citizens. +The Foreigners Consisted of all of the other freeborn people living in the Roman Empire and were not Roman citizens. +The Freedpeople were the people who used to be slaves and had been freed from slavery or had bought their freedom. They didn't have all of their rights as a citizen and still owed some duties to their former masters. However, they could be citizens if their masters were citizens. +The Slaves were either borne into slavery or sold into it and were legal property of their owners. Slavery was not based on race and they didn't dress differently but they did have to wear metal collars if they tried to run away.
- 10 Tribunes- Common people who peotected the people of the Roman Empire. They could stop laws from being passed. - 4 Aediles- 2 of them were common people and the other 2 didn't have to be common people. They watched over certain events and places in the Roman Empire. - 2 Censors- They were people who edited the lists of Equestrians and Senators, they also counted the number of citizens and property in the Roman Empire. They could also give out state contracts. - 8 Praetors- These were the judges in law courts. They could conduct senate meetings and could also take a Consuls place when they were out of Rome. After a Praetor's term was over, they oculd be a proprietor for a province. - 2 Consuls- Had the heighest position in the Roman Government. They were generals in the military and represented Rome in the government's foreign affairs. They also were the chief magistrates and if there was an emergency they could be a dictator for as long as 6 months.
Political Advancement
"All Roads Lead to Rome." Explination: The Roman Empire was the bases of a lot of the technology, culture, literature, and architecture that we have today. Also, a lot of roads in the Roman Empire eventually lead to the city of Rome.

Facts 1. S.P.Q.R. was printed on Roman money. 2. Julius Caesar was a Roman dictator. 3. The Freedpeople were not allowed to be a member of public office. 4. The Roman government consisted of 46 people. 5. Instead of paying taxes, farmers could give their extra crops to the government.
Government - A mix of democracy and republed. Som of Rome's government was taken from the government of the Ancient Greeks. The power was divided between the executive branch, the legislative branch, and the Judicial branch.
122 A.D. - Romans build Hadrian's Wall. 235-285 A.D. - Over 20 Roman rulers were murdered. Around 410 A..D. The British Roman rule collapses. 410 A.D. - The Barbarians attacked the Romans wanting part of the Danube River Valley and the land that is now Austria. When the demands were not met, the Barbarians attacked the city of Rome and brought its downfall. This event divided the empire in half. Around 455 A.D. the African Candals invaded Italy and attacked Rome. This event ended the Roman Empire.
