There have been many instances in history when the younger generations are empowered to revolt against the older generations.
Even today, there are youths who actively try to change something by getting their voices heard. One teenager was interviewed because of his goal of trying to convey to the world the effects of climate change to children. This shows that even though there is the matter of youth and inexperience, teenagers and young adults can make a change in society, however large or small it may be.
In current society, there is a growing rift between the older generation and the newer generation, due to changing society ideals and new technologies.
For example, young African Americans are submerged in hip-hop and rap, and songs with obscene words. They habitually use the n-word, which appalls the older generations of African Americans, who had to grow up listening to others say that word. The older generations were the ones who suffered through the African American Movement, but they feel like the younger generations are just abusing it.
Because of the importance of technology, Baby Boomers have to understand the necessity of Digital Natives.
Cory Doctorow’s Little Brother depicts all of the above, when he tries to demonstrate the youth and adult generation gap. He was able to use technology to connect with other people in the younger generation, and fight for something they believed in. Doctorow recognizes the different ideals that the generations have, using Markus’s father to portray a point of view from the adults. Doctorow would agree that the youth of today have the power to make changes.

However, this is not always the case, because the younger generation also tends to be less experienced, and their views can be lacking compared to that of the older generation’s.
