The crying wolf on a moonless night, The soulless screech of an owl, the mirthless laugh of an ex-arch nemesis, a pained, almost empty howl. The princess by her moonlit window, pretty damsels dressed in white, a faceless rider on a stallion black, lost love searching in the moonlight.

Fairies picking up pixie dust, pixies dancing in the twilight, angels peering down from clouds above, a lone unicorn on its noiseless flight. A pirate ship sailing past the moon, leprechauns mending boots, matchsticks dying on cold winter nights, a notorious feline making off with loot.

Sparkling diamonds under the lamplight, the tinkling laugh of a flirting barmaid, the pop of an opened cask of champagne, the crackle of notes at a luxurious arcade. Clouds of delusion from a smoking pipe, The drunken swagger of a man in debt, The shrill wail of an unseen woman, Memories of nightmares the Soul has met.

To the Milky Way, to the silent nights, to those perfect evenings by the fireside... To the Night - my first Love. To the Night - for the Memories. To the Night - for the Stardust. To the Night… My first Love.

To the Milky Way, to the silent nights, to those perfect evenings by the fireside... To the ghosts under the moon, the dew-spray on spiderwebs, the unnoticed rise of an unspeaking tide.

In this poem, I wanted to describe the various scenes you might imagine if you think of "the night". There's beauty, love and s***nity, but there's pain, darkness and fear, too.. Yet, in the last verse, I want the reader to realise that despite all the evil that the night is associated with, it still serves to enchant me. Simply because the Night, is, infact, my first love..
