The Crusades
The motivatio for the Crusades was that christians wanted Christianity to be the most powerful religion, but muslims wanted Islam to be. One key component was that Islam had gained control if the Middle East, particularly Jerusalem. This is important because Jerusalem is the holy land for christians.
The Crusades had a large impact on trade and on many other things in Europe and the Middle East. The Crusades helped trade a great deal becuase to form large armies you need large amounts of goods, also they brought back trade from the Middle East. This created more trading between the Middle East and Europe. The Crusades also brought scientific ideas and inventions from east to west and west to east.
The Crusades had many longterm effects as well. One of these is that they gave much more power and authority to the monarchs. This eventually lead to courties isolating themsleves from the chruch. Coutries such as England and Spain did this.
