Heroes
Both in mythology and in modern day, heroes reflect the ideals of the culture of their time period.
One very common characteristic of heroes over time is that many have super-human powers like strength and the ability to fly.
A difference between mythological heroes and superheroes of today, is how they derived their powers. Mythology took the religious view of the gods distributing the powers to the heroes. The modern day view is more scientific. For example, Spiderman's powers come after he is bitten by a spider.
Heroes often prove to be clever. Think about Odysseus and the Trojan Horse, as well as Batman.
One unvanishing characteristic of heroes is their bravery. In myths and in today's movies, heroes are daring and put their lives on the line.
In any time period, heroes are people to look up to. In mythology they were worshiped and today they are praised.
