I lay there in silence, Hoping the beast will leave, But he sits in defiance, Tormenting me. I can feel him in the nape of my neck, Messing with the wiring of my head, Every light, every noise, I can detect, Pounding in my skull, wishing I was dead. 'Oh leave me alone, Give me a break, Find a different home, From me do not take.' But he sits there and grins, As he chews and he chomps, And I lay there and cringe, Hoping my head won't fall off. The meds do not work, No, not for him, Always will he lurk, As I cry, 'Oh please, Oh please, get rid of him!' This terrible migraine from within. -Kaylyn Niles 2009
