Personal Stuff:-Married Elizabeth Stirling -Had two children before she died-Married Agnes Chrisholm afterward-Had ten children-Moved into Father's Castle 1608-Spent a lot of time improving the mechanisms around the castle-Anti-Catholic; wrote a book against Catholicism.-Thought any fame he attained would come from that book
Interest in astronomy:-interest in astronomy led to discovery of logarithms-supposed there was a better way to calculate very large numbers.-spent twenty years working on his theory.
Remembered for:-Published his findings in 1614-A Description of the Wonderful Canon of Logarithms-Began practice of using a decimal point to separate whole and fractional parts of numbers.
