James Fenimore Cooper 1789-1851
James Fenimore Cooper James Fenimore Cooper was a famous novelist. He was part of the romanticism movement and wrote of the Leather stocking Tales. His book, The Last of the Mohicans, was known to be his most romantic novel and his masterpiece. The book The Pathfinder is The Last of the Mohicans sequel and was the novel of Leather Stocking Tales. He was born on September 15, 1789 and died on September 14, 1851. He went into the navy before he became a novelist. He wrote numerous see-stories until 1811 were he withdrew out the navy and later married Susan DeLancy and having seven children. First book The Precaution in 1820. The first of the Leather Stocking series was The Pioneers. But The Last of the Mohicans was his most famous and most read novel. Became the first great American novelist.
