Shelby Graves Period 7
This girl would represent Jayne because she is always overloaded with school and sports.
This book was the most interesting books I’ve read. I usually can’t stay interested in a book for very long but there was never a dull moment in Black Tuesday. This book made me think about how one mishap can affect your life tremendously! I would recommend this book to young adults, mostly girs because they might relate more to the characters and the nature of the settings and occurrences.
The book I read was called Black Tuesday by Susan Colebank. It was in first person writing, and the theme of the novel was definitely drama, there was a lot of tragedy and there was happiness, it was a very influential book.
This is a Story about a young 16 year old girl named Jayne, she was the head of her class, going to Harvard, varsity tennis captain and basically the daughter every parent wants. She has a younger sister Ellie; she was the complete opposite of Jayne in every way. Her best friend was Tom, he was just a friend though and nothing more, he was the only person she could go to with her problems. Her parents were very strict and always tried to make Jayne and Ellie do their best at everything they do. One day Jayne was driving when she t-boned another car with a young girl in it, the crash resulted in the young girls death. Jayne then had to attend court-mandated community service along with counseling. Since the accident occurred Jayne began to let herself go, she began to not care about grades or her family or her friends. Jayne met a few interesting people while doing her community service, she met Meadow, Ryan, and Darian. Jayne let the accident take over her life and let it shadow her hopes and dreams. She ended up running away from home, when she was finally reunited with her family she realized that she could pick her life back up, just the way she left it except with a little more experience and maturity, so she did. Soon enough Jayne had become Senior Student for the year 2007, she started dating Tom, she became close friends with her sister, and her parents were finally proud of her and she was finally proud of herself.
