Kevin Rudds support - July 2011 (AusAid)
'Review of Aid Effectiveness The front cover of the Independent Review of Aid Effectiveness, released 6 July, 2011 . An independent review of the effectiveness of Australia’s aid program released by Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd on 6 July 2011 recognised research as an important driver of agricultural productivity and strongly endorsed ACIAR and its program. The review recommends that there should be more aid funding for research by Australian and international institutions, particularly in agriculture and medicine. In its response to the review the Government recommended ‘increasing support for ACIAR, which has achieved impressive results, confirmed by independent evaluations.’'
Review purpose Australia’s aid program more transparent, more accountable, and more focused on results and value for money. Food security in the aid program The aid review noted that about seven per cent of the Australian aid program (nearly $300 million in 2009–10) is spent on food security. This is delivered through AusAID and research bodies including ACIAR (A$63m in 2009–10) and the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). ect for more info go to thier web site -http://aciar.gov.au/node/13828
THIS IS PROOF: That the public knows where our tax revenue is going and that its worth paying becuase Australia is helping those who ask.
Gov's current and future Foriegn Aid Policy
QUESTION OF THE DAY: how much aid should we provide? As much as we can! Each Australian should be proud that the government is involbed in programs like these. The public should drive the government to assist more than they currently are.
