Behind these walls I am safe. Behind these walls I have comfort. Behind these walls I have solitude. I built these walls myself. Brick by brick I put them together. Behind these walls I am safe. The top brick is moving, cracking, threatening to break. Closer and closer it’s inching toward the edge. Deeper and deeper the cracks are etching themselves. Behind these walls I am safe. Crash! It falls to the ground and breaks. I am still safe behind my walls. The top brick is not the one that matters most. Behind these walls I am safe. Middle brick is moving, cracking, threatening to break. These cracks are small and easily mended. Behind these walls I am safe. The cracks are no longer small and easily mended. Inching closer and closer, etching deeper and deeper. Crash! Behind these walls I am safe. Corner brick. Cracking and breaking. Crash! Behind these walls I am no longer safe. That last blow was too deep; my walls, they are falling. Brick by brick they crumble. Behind these walls I am no longer safe. Behind these walls I no longer have comfort. Behind these walls I no longer have solitude. My walls all around me are crumbling, crashing to the ground. My life all around me is crumbling.
