A major contribution of ancient India was their advancement in astronomy, mathe,matics, literature, and medical science. Their main findings in astronomy were the calculation of occurrences of eclipses, determination of Earth's circumference, theorizing about the theory of gravitation, determining that sun was a star, and determination of number of planets under our solar system Their findings were based upon the Vedas. Ancient Indian mathematicians came up with the study of the concept zero as a number, negative numbers, arithmetic, and algebra. The concepts were then transferred to other countries of the Middle East, China, and Europe. Their literature was better knows as the Vedas. The vedas were very exquisite. These people were very advanced in medical sciences such as dental hygiene. These aspects show how advanced these people were in so many ways.

Another contribution to anciet India was their religion. India has long been known as a very spiritual, religious heavy area of the world. Religon is their way of life and is a great tradition.. For the majority of Indians, religion permeates every aspect of life, from common-place daily chores to education and politics. India is one of the most religiously diverse nations in the world, with one of the most deeply religious societies and cultures. Religion plays a central and definitive role in the life of the country and most of its people. There are three different religions, Hinduism, Jainism, and Buddhism. The religon of India helped shape the civilization.

Another great contribution to ancient India was the rivers and mountains that surrounded it. One of the great mountain ranges was the Himilaya's which provided a great deal of protection from nomadic and military invasions from the north. The other mountain ranges provided similar protection in the west and east. A major river called the Indus River, provided an excellent source for trade and commerce all through India's history. The rivers provided fertile land which made agriculture a whole lot easier. The geography ancient India was definitely an integral part in helping the development and growth of human settlements and start of one of the earliest civilizations.
