Red represents souls which have acheived liberarion.
Jainism
Jainism was founded about 2,500 years ago in India by Mahavira. The three guiding principals are the 'three jewels'. Right belief, right knowledge, and right conduct. Jains think that all living things have souls. They believe in reincarnation and they seek to acheive ultimate liberation. Ultimate liberation is escaping the continuous cycle of birth, death, and rebirth. Liberation can be acheived by getting rid of all karma from the soul. Jainism is a religion that does not have any gods, but rather is a religion of self help. The most imporatant rule or principal is non violence also called ahimsa. The 'Five Great Vows' or the 'Five Mahavratas' include non-violence, no attatchments to possessions, not lying, not stealing, and sexual restraint. The sacred texts of Jainism are the Agamas which contain Mahavira's teachings.

Jainism is divided into two major sects. The first one is the Digambara or 'sky clad' who believe that salvation in this birth can not be done by women. The Svetambara or 'white clad' sect disagrees with the Digambara sect. Jainism has no priests. Its professional religious people are the monks and nuns. These two groups of people lead strict and ascetic lives.
Each color in the Jainism flag mean something different. They are the 5 most ideal categories of people in Jainism.
