After world war 1 there was a highly vocalized rebellion against established values; they were vocalized through writing. There was an attempt to establish new values by writers. These values were expressed through artistic writing.
Gertrude Stein was an American writer who spent her life in France.
The Artiests (writers) of that time Willingly accepted the name given to them by Gertrude Stein ''The lost generation.'' The writers of that time experienced a lot of rejection which in the end really only benefited them. They build a new literature from ground up. Romantic Fairytale novels were thrown out and amazing realism was born.
Writing became stronger and no one held back. The range of language used grew and there were controversies over the strong content, but that didn't make anyone pull back. They said what they wanted to say and told their story with graphic detail.
