Ambition Multiple characters in this story are very ambitious. Robert, Victor, Henry, and The Creature all have their own ambitions. Robert hopes to reach the north pole and explore parts of the world. Victor, at the beginning of the story, is ambitious about science and anatomy, he wants to create life. Henry loves literature, he wants to write books and be intelligent in languages. The creature is highly ambitious in finding a friend, he doesn’t want to be alone anymore and he tries in many ways to find a human companion.
Loneliness In the book, immediately after the creature is born he is abandoned by his creator for his ugliness. The creature becomes very sad and is in search for someone to love him and take care of him. He wanders into a town where he is only hated and chased away. The creature can not find friendship anywhere. He spends all his time in the woods alone but finds a happy family living solitaire to the rest of the world. The creature watches them and when he finally builds the nerve to confront them he is beaten till he cries and runs out of the house.
Playing God Victor feels like a god when he creates his monster out of other humans. He brings life into the world as god does everyday. Victor gathers bodies from rapists and murderers and pieces their body parts together to create one superhuman body. He then uses all kinds of gadgets with electricity to get his heart pumping, eventually bringing the creature to life.
