''God knows I am innocent of such wickedness'' Elizabeth Howe
Giles Corey & Tituba
Elizabeth Jackson Howe was born around 1635, and married John Howe in 1658. They had 6 children and lived in Topsfield, MA. The Perely family of Ipswich, Massachusetts, was accused Elizabeth Howe of witch craft.. They claimed their 10-year old daughter was afflicted by Howe, noting their child complained of being pricked by pins and sometimes fell into fits.. The Perelys did not believe their daughter’s accusations at first, but took her to several doctors who said she was “under an evil hand”. On May 28, 1692 a warrant was drawn for the arrest of Elizabeth Howe, accusing her of afflicting the Perely's daughter and several other girls. Elizabeth Howe was found guilty and hanged on Gallows Hill. on July 19, 1692, along with Rebecca Nurse (her sister-in-law), Sarah Good, Sarah Wildes and Susanna Martin.
