My burning eyelids peel back, to stare on Writhing walls, leaking colours, Needles scratching into my skull with a sound Like frightened cats. My head drops back, jaw open, and I close my aching eyes As the walls numb to a shallow pool of water, Where two pairs of bare feet dance. The two lovers, entwined in each other, Twist into the other's eyes, Drown in one another's warm skin....
Just rest your eyes and dream alone, This raging bliss won't last for long. Let your tears fall on my shirt - It's just too easy giving in to hurt. It's all I could do to see in red; When your soft skin wept, I simply bled. These lines speak better of my needs Than all the words my lips concede...
Everyone saw them with each other, Only I saw them together. Him, with his back leaning against the wall At the end of the long bench, His feet up on the bench as well, His legs stretched out in front of him. She nestled her body between his knees, his thighs. Her shoulders rested comfortably on his stomach. She kept her head buried in his chest all night, Peace together. At first, they shared music, laughter, magical words, Then, she slept. He stayed awake all night, Watched over her, fast asleep, Kept her safe, her head still buried, hearing his heartbeat. And it occurred to me, How easy it would be For him to put the gun to his own head, Lift it, caress it, and make it his own, Take in its stored up contents, Release it, Then rest as she does. Girl gun boy. Peace together.
Did your fingernails burn the skin of my palms when you traced the lines in my hand? Displaying raw flesh that I only noticed when you stopped. Maybe that's what I'll tell everyone.
