COAL
Coal is a fossil fuel. It is the largest source of energy for the generation of electricity worldwide, as well as one of the largest worldwide source of carbon dioxide emissions.
Peat : This type of coal is considered to be a precursor of coal, It has industrial importance as a fuel in some regions.
Anthracite coal : is a hard, compact variety of mineral coal that has a high lustre. It has the highest carbon count and contains the fewest impurities of all coals, despite its lower calorific content.
Lignite : is the lowest rank of coal and used mostly as fuel for electric power generation.
Bituminous coal : is an organic sedimentary rock formed by diagenetic and submetamorphic compression of peat bog material.. It is of higher quality than lignite coal but of poorer quality than anthracite coal.
-Coal is used for electricity all over the world. -It can be turned into a gas in the process known as gasification . -In the the early days, coal was mainly used to power steam engines.
