Explanations!
Rules Explanation 1. Punctually turning in assignments promotes responsibility and creates a better learning atmosphere. 2. Raising hands to talk in class can make sure everyone is heard one at a time, and no one speaks out of turn. 3. Being prepared for class can make sure that the class can start in a timely manner. 4. Food can be a distraction in the classroom. Personally, the sound of people eating drives me insane! 5. Cleaning up after oneself is key to having a clean learning environment. This promotes a more productive learning environment.
Consequence Explanation 1. A verbal warning is used in case my non-verbal cues, such as the teacher look are innaffective. 2. Talking to the student one on one can give the student a chance to explain themselves without the rest of the class present to distract the student. 3. Detention is a consequence because it can give the student time to reflect on his/her actions. 4. An Office Referral is a last option consequence for the teacher. If the previous consequences are unsuccessful in fixing the students' behavior, an office referral can make light of their misbehavior.
Reason for Incentives! These class incentives can promote a positive climate in the classroom by giving the students rewards to work for. The better the student does in tests, quizzes, following rules and other classroom protocol gives them more chances to win something in the raffle later in the year. For difficult students, the raffle can give them a sense of competition and something to work toward. If there is a specific raffle reward they want, they will work harder at following the rules AND studying.
