HOW LIGHT & LENSES WORK 1. Light hit film or sensor (depends on aperture) 2. Shutter opens/closes to stop light from hitting 3. Adjust focal length using different lenses 4. Lenses creating image on film with help of mirror and pentagonal prism 5. Use f-stops & shutter speeds to control exposure
CONVERGING LENSES Individual curved pieces of glass or plastic; compound lens
REFRACTION : Light rays from object that pass through convex lens converge. When parallel light rays pass through the lens. refracted rays converge at principal focus. The image is real & inverted because light rays travel through film.
While taking pictures with a camera, a distance between the lens and a film has to be adjusted by moving the lens (focusing).
CAMERA LENSES
An object appears to be bigger in telephoto lens than it actual is because the telephoto lens' focal length is bigger than normal lens' focal length.
Increasing magnification with unchanged image size decreases field of view & vice versa Shutter speeds form geometric sequence Larger the aperture, more light can pass through lens To freeze action, use a fast shutter speed. Blur by using a slow shutter speed.
FOCAL LENGTH Telephoto lenses include: Wide angle lenses Longer focal length lenses Zoom lenses
