Here we are Gathered at this site As we lower one more down Cuz they gave up on the fight To rest beneath the ground And as i stand Frozen in my place In front of a stone so grand My heart it starts to race As I read what was engraved For them Just their name And two simple dates That almost seem the same And forever mark their fate That's all you will notice With one simple glance So take a second look And see what else is there I bet you'll catch What i just did
Look between the numbers Notice the tiny dash That seems so unimportant But is full of so much meaning That little mini mark Represents someones entire life So in truth It is more essential Then the date of birth or death Yet is thought to be Totally inconsequential Doesn't that make you wonder How did they spend that time Did they let is waste away Or did they try Try to make a difference To add a little cheer To a world full of gloom Do they wish That they could go back And redo the past As they now
